SHIP works very closely with the urban native community located in and around siouxland!
Below are RESources for the Community

Community based native american advocate:

  • Provides cultural and traditional healing and counseling

  • Helps families and individuals navigate the child welfare, juvenile justice and adult corrections systems

  • Provides Fatherhood is Sacred programming

Urban native center:

  • Provides resources

  • Youth groups

  • Community gatherings

memorial march to honor lost children:

  • Educational event at Briar Cliff University the Tuesday before Thanksgiving

  • March occurs the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and honors Native children lost in the foster care system

Community initiative for native children and families (CINCF)

  • Collaborative group including representatives from the community, Tribes, Health and Human Services (HHS), Sioux City Police Department, City of Sioux City, SHIP and other agencies providing services to or invested in the Native community
